Presenting the governorship candidate, the party chairman, Edward Ogunsanya said Cyrus emergence followed the death of its former governorship candidate, Professor David Bamgbose.
The PRP chairman said Cyrus candidacy was affirmed after a fresh primary conducted by the party with full supervision of the electoral body, INEC in September 17, 2022.
“By God’s grace, we are on ground and we will win the governorship election. In every unit we have in Ogun state, we have our agents represented. We are footed in Ogun state with over 20,000 membership strength.”
Addressing journalists shortly after his unveiling, the governorship candidate, Mr. Cyrus Johnson promised to take the people of the state out of the shackles of APC led administration.
He vowed that with the firm structure of the party in the state, he has a good chance of winning the governorship election.
He, however, dismissed any plan to emerge with other political parties in the state.
“If PRP as exist since 1978 without merging with any party, they wouldn’t now. We are not discriminating the fact that if any other party is willing to merge with us they are very much welcome, but we aren’t merging with any party cause the name we have built will sink in doing that and that is not pleasing to the people who worked hard for the existence of the party.
“We have a very good chance of winning and by the fact that majority of the people in Ogun state are tired of what is happening and they need fresh hands, on that ground, we believe that I have very good chance in winning this election.”
