Resident Doctors Suspend Nationwide Strike, resume duties immediately 

The Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) has suspended its nationwide strike that had persisted for over two weeks.

The decision to suspend the strike came after intense negotiations and discussions between NARD leadership and government representatives.

Recall that the striking Doctors had earlier in the week suspended their planned nationwide mass protest following the intervention of the leadership of the National Assembly.

NARD President, Emeka Orji, who announced the suspension of the strike on Friday night, also directed all members of the Association to return to work on Saturday, August 12, at 8am.

Orji said, in a terse message, “Good evening. We just suspended the strike. Work to resume 8 am tomorrow.” We will review the progress made in two weeks.”

The resident doctors had on July 26 embarked an an indefinite strike over the failure of the government to implement the demands of its members.
