Ondo Boundary Encroachment: Ogun Govt Allays Fear Of Border Communities Residents

ABEOKUTA – Ogun State Government has allayed fear of residents of Irokun, Obinehin, Idigbengben and Arorami communities in Ogun Waterside Local Government Area of the State, that the issue of land encroachment by the Ondo State Government will be addressed by the National Boundary Commission.

The Special Adviser to the Governor on Works and Infrastructure, Engr. Babatunde Adesina gave this assurance in Irokun while addressing representatives of the four communities during an assessment tour of the communities, emphasizing that all the communities remain part of Ogun state and would not be allowed to be taken over by the neighbouring Ondo State.

Engr. Adesina restated the commitment of the Prince Dapo Abiodun led administration to the even distribution of dividends of democracy, saying more infrastructural projects would be provided to the communities so as to improve the standard of living of the residents and boost socio-economic development of the area.

‘’Irokun and other the neighbouring communities belong to Ogun State, and cannot be taken over by any neighbouring State. The National Boundary Commission has the documentation backed by law regarding where Ogun boundary ends. I will relay your message to the Governor and the appropriate action will be taken’’, he said.

The Special Adviser stated that the government had set up an inter-ministerial committee made up of nine agencies including Ministries of Works and Infrastructure, Health, Education, Rural Development, Transportation, Housing, Information, among others, to look into their plights

In his remarks on behalf of others, the Onirokun of Irokun, Oba Buhari Balogun, appreciated the State government delegates for the visit and solicited the attention of the state Government on the provision of more social infrastructural amenities such as road, water, and security among to make living more abundant for residents.
