Smugglers killed Two Customs Officers

Two personnel of the Nigeria Customs Service, Kebbi Area command have been gruesomely murdered by suspected smugglers along Bunza – Dakingari – Koko Road, Kebbi State.

The two officers, Kabiru Shehu, an Inspector of Customs and Abdullahi Muhammad, a Customs Assistant II, were killed during an exchange of gun fire between the suspected smugglers and officers and men of the Customs

The incident happened on Thursday, 24th August 2023, when the officials were on a stop-and-search operation along the Bunza – Dakingari – Koko Road.

According to Mubarak Mustapha, Ag. Public Relations Officer, Customs Service, Kebbi Area Command, the personnel were “engaged with heavy gunfire by suspected bandits in an ash-coloured Toyota Corolla vehicle”, leading to the death of the two officers.

“While praying for the repose of the deceased, the Command has launched a manhunt for the suspects with the view to arrest and prosecute them.

“The CAC also urge members of the public to volunteer information about the movement of suspected smugglers and other criminals. He assured such informants of strict confidentiality,” the PRO added.
