The Governorship Candidate of the African Democratic Congress in Ogun State, Biyi Otegbeye, has assured dwellers of the rural communities that, if elected into office, his administration would drive their economies by constructing and rehabilitating linking roads in the communities.
The ADC flagbearer particularly took a swipe at Governor Dapo Abiodun for “neglecting rural roads”, saying it shows Abiodun has no regard for the rural dwellers.
He identified good rural roads as a major booster for economic activities at the communal levels.
Addressing a mammoth crowd at Ijoun during the ongoing campaign tour of the ADC to Yewa North Local Government on Saturday, Otegbeye identified good intercity roads as an enabler of economic growth; especially at the local Government levels.

“Abiodun does not have any regard for the good people of this area. This is one road that would have changed the face of Ogun West and enhanced the economic situation of the people had he bothered to complete it,” he said.
Otegbeye added that “Our team considers it important that one of the ways we can drive local enterprise and attract investment to our state is to ensure that our roads, especially the ones that link up communities, are in good order.
“Livable communities and Creation of new towns is the third agenda in our pathway to prosperity manifesto. It has a rural development plan and the idea is to link the communities and news towns with good roads; which will in turn improve the quality of life and standard of living of the dwellers as they can stay in their environment to do business, commute elsewhere easily and even attract outsiders.”

Otegbeye, fondly called BOT berated the Dapo Abiodun administration for neglect of rural roads especially in the area.
He cited the Ilara-Eggua-Oja-Odan-Ilase road that was started by the immediate past administration of Sen. Ibikunle Amosun but has been criminally abandoned since the current administration came on board.
Otegbeye assured that focus will be given to such roads by the incoming administration under his watch.
