Cow Meant For ‘Cult Day’ Celebration Arrested By Police In Osun

Police in Osun State have seized a cow meant to be used for a celebration by people suspected to be cultists in Osogbo, the state capital.
The Roving Pen gathered that the State Police Command, based on intelligence gathering, had on Thursday kicked against ‘Cult Day Celebration’ which is usually observed by a group known as Aye confraternity on every July 7, warning that it will arrest anyone involved in unlawful gathering.
Despite the police warning, it was gathered that some suspected cult members from different locations converged at Egbatedo area of Osogbo, to celebrate the day.
The Anti-cult unit of the police got a tip off about this illegal gathering and invaded the community to effect arrest of the suspected cultists.
However, the suspects, upon sighting the police operatives, took to their heels, and abandoned the cow, which they already marked, “Oroki Aye group, 7/7” with a symbol of axe on it.
The police team, subsequently siezed the cow.
Confirming the incident, Osun police command spokesperson, SP Yemisi Opalola, said the cow was arrested by the police team after the suspect fled from the scene.
