Wife Flees Over Attacks On family, Kidnappers Demand N50m Ransom On Abducted Husband

ABEOKUTA – A mother of two, Coker Modupe, has reportedly gone into hiding following several attacks on her family including the kidnapping of her husband, Mr. Coker Femi.

Modupe was said to have absconded with her two kids after several attempts to pay the ransom to her husband’s kidnappers failed.

It was gathered that the crisis started for the Coker’s family after the abduction of Mr. Femi who was abducted with other passengers on the Benin-bound commercial bus accosted from the Ijebu-Ode end of Lagos – Ore – Sagamu Expressway in Ogun State in August, 2022.

According to the wife, her husband, Femi Coker, was yet to be released by his abductors and this has been giving his immediate family traumatized concern since he was abducted.

Mrs. Coker’s mini supermart burnt down

Speaking with our reporter on a telephone interview, Mrs. Coker said two days after her husband’s abduction, the kidnappers demanded for a ransom of N50 million on a phone conversation with her.

She lamented that several efforts to raise the N50 million ransom proved abortive as she was yet to recover from her collapsed business following an inferno that engulfed her mini supermarket and the gruesome murder of her parents by yet-to-be identified assailants.

She explained further that, the kidnappers gave her husband the phone to speak with her in order to confirm his abduction, stressing that, despite all pleas, the kidnappers threatened to kill the victim if the ransom was not paid.

Mrs. Coker told our reporter that from all indications the conversation she had on the phone with the abductors, clearly shows that the kidnappers were Fulani herdsmen.

However, a family source who preferred anonymity told our reporter that, the wife had absconded with their brother’s two kids to an unknown destination.

The source explained that, when the family members visited their abducted brother’s residence located at Adigbe in Obafemi Owode local government area of Ogun state, the house was deserted with no one living there.

When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, said efforts are underway to rescue the victim from the kidnapper’s captivity.
