A group of professionals has called on the All Progressives Congress (APC) delegates to vote Vice President Yemi Osinbajo as the flagbearer, ahead of the party’s presidential primaries,
The Diaspora arm of the group under aegis of Progressive Youth Group (PYG) insisted that Osinbajo remains the best candidate to fly the APC ticket and by extension to replace President Muhammadu Buhari.
The Deputy National Coordinator (Diaspora), Hon Akeem Amao made this known in a statement made available to our correspondent.
Amao said members of the group spread across the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Canada, US and other countries in Europe, are rooting for Osinbajo because he has the capacity, competence and well equipped as the Vice President in the last seven years.
According to him, Osinbajo having worked closely with the President knows where the shoe pinches in terms of the nation’s challenges and he is best placed to tackle them.
Amao submitted that there are still many holes to fill and by virtue of Osinbajo’s experience, he can hit the ground running and to speedily deliver the transformation we have all been clamouring for.
“As Buhari/Osinbajo administration winds up, It is imperative that the mantle of leadership be transferred to Professor Yemi Osinbajo in order to consolidate on the gains of this administration and also pursue the unfulfilled dreams of Mr. President and build on the legacies of good governance and adherence to the rule of law.
“Being a part of this administration, he understands the challenges faced by this administration and this will help foster cohesive tendency as an insider and part of the Government to collaboratively work with other well meaning Nigerians to take the nation to a greater height,” he said.
Amao particularly urged the party delegates not be swayed by money in deciding the APC candidate, saying their decisions would have a direct impact on future of the country.
“Our message to the party’s delegates most especially the APC is that, they should not be carried away by the cash being thrown around. They should be guided by their conscience. We need someone who can do it and do it well.
“Osinbajo has left no one in doubt that he remains the best candidate for the job. Nigerians should not allowed their reasoning to be beclouded by sentiment, let’s go for the right man,” the Deputy National Coordinator added.
