The Inter – Party Advisory Council (IPAC), umbrella association of the political parties in Ogun State on Wednesday said it does not recognise the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) led by Hon Oladipopu Adebutu, ahead of the July 24 Local Government election in the state.
There are reports that the State Independent Electoral Commission (OGSIEC) had recognised a faction of the party loyal to Late Buruji Kashamu as the authentic state executive.
To this end, the commission had reportedly handed over all forms belonging to the PDP to one Leke Shittu as the State Secretary of the Kashamu faction of PDP.
But Adebutu faction kicked against the development, saying it was taken aback that the electoral umpire “is bent on fuelling another crisis in the party despite all available documents before it.”
A statement signed by the State Chairman of IPAC, Abayomi Arabambi said the body does not Adebutu – group in PDP “in strict compliance with the existing Court ruling.”
He said “The LADO group is constitutionally rendered impotent and doesn’t have the locus standi to be seen as a political party . This is against the case of the IPAC 22 that are contesting their right to continuous existence being hindered by the INEC’s refusal to obey a declaratory judgement of the Court of Appeal on its Order to re – instate them.
“This Lado group is a group that should be ignored without a response but for the sake of the part of the public their empty and useless grandstanding can misinform.
“You can imagine how misleading this dead Lado group can be . The lying and illegal Lado group’s calls for the sack of OGSIEC , this is a floating illegal group that is not recognised by any extant law . Lado group is only recognised by Secondus , the currently redundant National Chairman of PDP for its meal ticket value.
“In Ogun State , the recognised and legally confirmed PDP has been functioning so well and even the forms for the Candidates for the forthcoming Local Government Election for both the seats of Chairmen and Councillors have been handed over to the authentic Ogun State PDP.
“So , there can be no working relationship or any form of association with an illegal body with Ogun IPAC .”
Speaking on the demand of 22 parties for dissolution of OGSIEC, Arabami said ” I will like to put it on record that the call by the IPAC 22 for the sack of OGSIEC Chairman is sad and unfortunate because though we sympathize with them over the current political situation they found themselves , the whole problem should be squarely blamed on the INEC ABUJA Leadership that has failed in their Constitutional duties and responsibilities to obey a straight forward declaratory judgement of the COURT OF APPEAL.
“This disobedience of Court Order is an official rascality on the part of INEC.”
